We are based out of the community of Golden, British Columbia, Canada - located in the heart of incredible mountain ranges, and right next to the world-renowned Columbia River wetlands.
If you are looking for premium photographic images and archival prints, paintings or graphic designs of the Canadian Rockies, or the David Thompson Activity Book, you are in the right place.
I have sought ways to express my creativity from an early age - it was just something I had to do. Moving to Golden in the 1980's and finding a little piece of land overlooking the wetlands became the opportunity needed to focus my creative energies. The mountains, the water, and the wildlife offer a never ending supply of ideas to absorb and recreate.
My art depicts the wonders of the natural world, using various media, depending on the project. This involves applying paint to watercolour paper, cement floors, house walls, fabrics, and all sorts of other natural material. I do commercial graphic designs that are one of a kind, using original artist materials that are then transferred to digital media for your final use
I have done a number of commissioned art pieces, as well as original graphic designs for interpretive venues, and illustrations for children's books (including my self-published "David Thompson Activity Book"). I am now pleased to offer a variety of prints, ranging from small sized reproductions, to larger sized open editions and limited editions.
I photograph wild places and outdoor lifestyles of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and surrounding area, and hope that after looking at these images you'll get as excited about this place as I am. It's as simple as that, but to put it into a few more words...
After years of exploring and photographing this wondrous area, I have selected images from thousands, based upon their ability to make the viewer say "I wish I was there". These images are the result of looking for the artistry that is, I think, part of our natural world. Some were taken from well-known areas, but many are from more isolated, remote locations. I usually visit locations numerous times until the conditions are right to create that special image.
I have worked as a professional forester involved with strategic planning for environmental, recreational and timber forest values. Most recently, I coordinated designation of old growth forest areas and recreational land use zonations for the East Kootenays, and worked with stakeholders regarding B.C. mountain caribou recovery efforts.
